Barry has spent more than half his life doing what he loves most - FLYING. Bitten by the bug in his early teens, Barry worked at farm laboring jobs to get enough money to train for his Private Pilots Licence, which he gained at the age of sixteen. This achievement was at an age when he was not even old enough to drive a motor car and was only the start for Barry. |
Before he had turned twenty three years of age he had qualified for the highest licence rating possible, that of Airline Transport Pilot. Barry's real love is AEROBATICS and he has won many trophies, including the Queensland and Australian Aerobatic Championships in the Advanced Category. "I feel as though I have done just about as much as I can in other fields of Aviation" says Barry, "Aerobatics is the ultimate test for a pilot, instead of just flying from A to B, you have to put a lot of yourself into it". It is easy to dismiss the sheer amount of hard work that goes into each airshow performance when you watch Barry execute perfect rolls, loops and stall turns as well as the extremely difficult "outside" manoeuvres in close proximity to the ground. After more than twenty eight thousand hours of flying everything from Lear Jets to Airliners, Barry now runs his own flying school and charter operations at Brisbane's ARCHERFIELD AIRPORT and spends the majority of his time passing on his skills to others. His experience and attention to obtain a high standard with his staff has produced one of the best equipped and most successful flying schools and charter businesses in Australia today. |
